I agree with the previous correspondent that Mr. DeLucchi may not be qualified to comment on other forms of worship / meditation. I can recommend he reads "A History of God" by Karen Armstrong (ISBN 0 09 927367 5) as a start to expanding his knowledge of the background to his religion and others.

I know he was being smug (or making a bad joke) in his assertion that I was smoking some mind-altering substance, but I can, however, agree with him that the experience of communing with the cosmic consciousness can be replicated via drugs. Just goes to show that you can be right when you're wrong - if only you knew it.
